In just seven days, 17 women (many of whom were strangers) gathered together in community and connected profoundly with one another, and most importantly, themselves. We witnessed them remove all masks, show up exactly as they are, and be celebrated and loved for it.
From the delicious and nourishing food courtesy of our amazing Chef Barbara, to the extensive surf lessons and adrenaline-filled excursions, to the restorative yoga classes and reflective NUSHU Groups, our retreat allowed us to step out of our everyday lives. It was hard not to leave feeling changed, with a deeper understanding of what it means to be supported, nourished, seen, and acknowledged. In short, our retreat felt like a full-body YES.
As retreat participant Courtney Evans (and Certified NUSHU Group Facilitator!) writes, “By the end of the week, I witnessed [us] popping up with grace, compassion and a well of self-love that had each of us riding waves to the shore feeling lighter, stronger, more grounded and healthier than we’ve felt before.”
We couldn’t have done it without our incredible partner Salt + Snow who not only hosted a trunk show on-site but also curated gift bags for our participants. Like NUSHU, this female-founded company shares a passion for outdoor experiences and adventure. A one-stop shop for all things from the salt to the snow, their selection of the best performance wear had us all catching waves in serious style.
We’d also like to thank A Week Awake for their amazing hospitality and support, and Antedotum, Dip Premium Hair Care, Flexpower, and Surf Durt for their generous gift bag contributions!
